Synopsis

In a world where humans and robots live happy together, war is about to start between them. Echo, a simple young robot designed for simple repair and maintenance tasks, is in charge of stopping war and has to bring peace back. Captured by the other robots, Echo passes his life in prison, but he doesn't give up. Decades later, he develops the ability to send messages to the past and takes advantage of it to help his past-self and alter the apocalyptic consequences that the war caused.

Development

Although the idea of this game has been in my mind for a very long time, it hasn't been up until 2022 when I finally started to really shape it and build upon it. Having very classic mechanics, yet very open and diverse. The game is currently being developed using Godot Engine.

Inspiration

As the big Mega Man fan that I am myself, I always had the thought in mind that the core essence of the franchise would perfectly fit the Metroidvania genre. Gathering new weapons and abilities is one of the key features of Mega Man and Metroidvania games, so mixing them together just seems natural to me. The game's twist is being able to play two different timelines, playing as adult Echo where the robots win the war and rule over the world to help young Echo avoid this outcome in a timeline where war has just started. This scenario is based on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, where the protagonist can also willingly change between two different time spaces.
